DEAR FRIENDS OF ARTS & MUSIC AT THE MADELEINE
Cathedrals have fostered the Arts and Humanities for many centuries, supporting both creators and performers alike in their efforts to explore, express, and challenge the profound yearnings of the human spirit. For almost forty years, the Cathedral of the Madeleine has presented three annual concert seasons: the Cathedral Choir Concert Series, the Eccles Organ Festival, and the Madeleine Festival of the Arts and Humanities. For the first time, we are excited to present all these events together as Arts & Music at the Madeleine, showing the full breadth and depth of the Cathedral's offerings.
Over the course of thirty-seven years, tens of thousands of people have enjoyed these programs, presented in the Cathedral free of charge. However, year after year, the scope of each concert series has continued to grow, and with The Madeleine Choir School now in its 30th year, it was time to consider the future of our offerings. How can we continue to grow and inspire? How can we best celebrate Music and the Arts? How may these performances remain viable and sustainable for years to come?
After careful consideration, we have decided to adopt a mixed model, in which a select few events will require paid tickets. Starting in the 2025- 2026 season, some of the Cathedral Choir Concert Series concerts will require paid tickets, while all performances in the Eccles Organ Festival and the Madeleine Festival will continue to be offered free of charge.
What will tickets requiring payment for some performances mean for you, our patrons? First and foremost, it means that Arts & Music at the Madeleine can continue our tradition of outstanding concerts featuring local professional musicians, rising talented musicians from abroad, and the choristers from The Madeleine Choir School. It means those offerings can continue to be bold and even more varied. Most of all, it ensures that these concerts are available to our community for years to come.
